Facing Your Fears (FYF)

Due to safety precautions and the University of Calgary's current restrictions, we will not be offering in-person groups this year. We know how important it is for families to be connected to services that can help to manage anxiety during this time. We hope to offer a virtual version of the FYF program. Please check back for details.

FACING YOUR FEAR (FYF)

This research project investigates the effectiveness of an anxiety intervention called Facing Your Fears (FYF), which is a group Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approach for the treatment of anxiety in children and youth with ASD that has been adapted to meet the cognitive, linguistic, and social needs of this population.

Parent attendance is required at all sessions.

PARTICIPATION IN THE STUDY INCLUDES:

  1. A short pre-screening interview over the phone

  2. A 2-3 hour in-person assessment

  3. Participation in FYF (14 weekly sessions)

  4. Completion of questionnaires and other assessment measures 6 months following the completion of the program.
